This video explains leads you through a prayer experience called the Awareness Examen.
The awareness examen is one of the oldest prayers in the Christian tradition and invites us to reflect on our daily life with and in the divine.
The Book "Finding God in the Story of our Lives" invites the reader to reflectively explore their story in light of God's activity and invitations. There are seven chapters wherein one can explore along with the author, their ancestral heritage, family of origin, growing up experiences, vocational choices, love interests, and both challenging and enriching experiences along life's journey.
A review from Kathleen Mcalpin Professor Spiritual Direction, Regis College, University of Toronto, Ontario
How can anyone ever comment on the mystery and gift of a personal story? However, the integration of your narrative and reflection on God in your life are very thoughtful. The way you ground your personal experience in the light of faith is quite meaningful. In particular, I believe that your invitations to meditation and the reflective questions at the end of each chapter will lead others to insight and grace as they too "find God in the story of their lives".
The CD "Known: An experience of Contemplative Prayer" is a 4 part series wherein the listener is invited to experience praying with scripture through Lectio Divina and Gospel Contemplation; to experience a way of becoming more aware of God's presence in daily life through the Awareness Examen and then to be brought through an experience of Intercessory Prayer.
A review from Gwenyth J. Redhead, Colonel, Salvation Army
Is there a more wonderful thought than that we are intimately known by a gracious God? I have found this CD to be a valuable resource in enhancing my spiritual journey and increasing my awareness that I am known by God. Wendys gentle voice woos me into listening closely as she introduces and takes us into experiencing contemplative prayer through Lectio Divina, Gospel contemplation, Awareness Examen and Intercession. This is a CD that can be helpful in a number of ways:. for those who are new to prayer, or new to the experience of contemplative prayer; for those who want to bring freshness to their personal encounters with God; as a resource to be used by prayer partners or prayer groups; or as a teaching tool for those seeking to mentor others in the life of prayer, or within the context of seminars and larger gatherings for corporate prayer.
